I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Uhud. I struck one of the polytheists and said, "Take that from me, for I am the Persian lad!"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to me and said, "Why did you not say, 'Take that from me, for I am the Ansari lad'?"
شهدت مع رسول الله ﷺ أحدا فضربت رجلا من المشركين فقلت: خذها مني وأنا الغلام الفارسي فالتفت إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال: فهلا قلت خذها منى وأنا الغلام الأنصارى.
Abu Dawud (5123), Ibn Majah (2784), and Ahmad (22515) all narrated it through Husayn bin Muhammad, who said, Jareer bin Hazim narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Dawud bin Husayn, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Uqbah, from Abu Uqbah, and he related it.Abu Yaala (910) also narrated it through Yunus bin Bukayr, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, Dawud bin Husayn narrated to me, from Abdul-Rahman bin Uqbah, from his father Uqbah, the freedman of Jabr bin Utayk Ansari, naming him Uqbah rather than saying "Abu Uqbah."Its isnad is hasan because of Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Uqbah, from whom two narrators transmitted, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in his book of trustworthy narrators. A narrator of this standing has his hadith graded hasan so long as there is no irregularity or objectionable content in what he transmits.
