I was among the captives on the day of Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Treat the captives well." I was with a group of the Ansar, and whenever they brought out their morning and evening meals, they would eat the dates themselves and feed me the bread, in keeping with the instruction of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to them.
كنت في الأسارى يوم بدر، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: استوصوا بالأسارى خيرا وكنت في نفر من الأنصار، وكانوا إذا قدموا غداءهم وعشاءهم أكلوا التمر، وأطعموني الخبز بوصية رسول الله ﷺ إياهم.

Tabarani narrated it in Mujam al-Kabir (22/393) from Husayn bin Ali Attar Masissi, who said, "Shabab Asfari narrated to us, Bakr bin Sulayman narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, Nabih bin Wahb narrated to me, from Abu Aziz bin Umayr, the brother of Musab bin Umayr," and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq. Haythami likewise graded it hasan in Majma (6/86).Regarding Abu Aziz, it is said that his name was Zurara. He was a companion who heard from and narrated from the Prophet ﷺ. Nabih bin Wahb narrated from him, and he is counted among the people of Madinah. Zubayr claimed that he was killed on the day of Uhud as a disbeliever, but that is a mistake, and Allah knows best. See Istiab.There is disagreement regarding Ibn Ishaq. Tabarani narrated it this way as connected, while Ibn Hisham mentioned it in Sirah (1/645), saying, "Ibn Ishaq said, Nabih bin Wahb, brother of Banu Abd Dar, narrated to me that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came bringing the captives..." and he mentioned the hadith similarly. This is mursal.Ibn Hajar mentioned it in Isabah (10329) from Ibn Ishaq, who said, "Nabih bin Wahb narrated to me, saying, I heard someone mention from Abu Aziz, who said, I was among the captives on the day of Badr..." and he mentioned the hadith. So he added an unnamed intermediary between Nabih bin Wahb and Abu Aziz. And Allah knows best.
