Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

The chiefs of Quraysh gathered at the Hijr and made a pact, swearing by al-Lat, al-Uzza, Manat the third, Nailah, and Isaf, "If we ever see Muhammad, we will rise against him as one man and not part from him until we have killed him."His daughter Fatimah رضي الله عنها came weeping until she entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "These chiefs of Quraysh have made a pact against you. If they see you, they will rise up and kill you. There is not one of them who has not assigned himself a share in shedding your blood."He said, "Dear daughter, bring me water for ablution."He performed his ablution, then went out to them in the mosque. When they saw him, they said, "There he is," but they lowered their gazes, their chins sank to their chests, they were rooted to their seats, none raised his eyes to him, and not one of them stood up to him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came forward until he stood right over their heads. He took a handful of dust and said, "May the faces be disfigured." Then he flung it at them, and not a single man struck by one of those pebbles failed to be killed as a disbeliever on the day of Badr.
