Urwa bin Zubayr reported,

Zubayr said, "On the day of Badr, I met Ubayda bin Saeed bin al-As. He was clad in armor from head to foot so that nothing could be seen of him except his eyes. His kunya was Abu Dhat al-Karish. He called out, 'I am Abu Dhat al-Karish.' I charged at him with my short spear and struck him in the eye, and he died."Hisham said, "I was told that Zubayr said, 'I placed my foot on him and pulled with all my strength, and it was only with great effort that I drew it out, and both its tips had bent.'"Urwa said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Zubayr for that spear, and he gave it to him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, Zubayr took it back. Then Abu Bakr requested it, and Zubayr gave it to him. When Abu Bakr passed away, Umar asked him for it, and he gave it to him. When Umar passed away, Zubayr took it back. Then Uthman requested it from him, and he gave it to him. When Uthman was killed, it ended up with the family of Ali. Then Abdullah bin Zubayr requested it, and it remained with him until he was killed."
