The Prophet ﷺ looked at Umayr bin Abu Waqqas and considered him too young when he set out for Badr, but then he permitted him to join.Saad said, "It is also said that his sword failed him."Abdullah said, "He was killed on the day of Badr."
أن النبي ﷺ نظر إلى عمير بن أبي وقاص فاستصغره حين خرج إلى بدر، ثم أجازه. قال سعد: ويقال: إنه خانه سيفه قال عبد الله: قتل يوم بدر.

Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (1770) from Muhammad bin Qays, who said, Ishaq bin Muhammad told us, from Abdullah bin Jafar, from Ismail bin Muhammad bin Saad, from Amir bin Saad, from his father Saad, and he related it.Bazzar said, "We do not know of it being narrated from Saad except through this chain."I say, its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Jafar, who is the son of Miswar, Abu Muhammad al-Madani, whose hadith is hasan. Haythami said in Majma (6/69), "Its narrators are trustworthy."Waqidi said, Umayr bin Abu Waqqas had been considered too young by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Badr, and he wanted to send him back, so he wept. Then afterward the Prophet permitted him, and he was killed that day at the age of sixteen.
