When the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina, the Muhajirun came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, we have never seen a people more generous when they have much, nor more willing to share when they have little, than the people among whom we have settled. They have spared us the burden of labor and included us in their comforts, until we feared they would take away all the reward."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "No, not so long as you pray to Allah for them and praise them."
لما قدم النبي ﷺ المدينة أتاه المهاجرون فقالوا: يا رسول الله، ما رأيناه قوما أبذل من كثير، ولا أحسن مواساة من قليل من قوم نزلنا بين أظهرهم. لقد كفونا المؤنة، وأشركونا في المهنا حتى لقد خفنا أن يذهبوا بالأجر كله. فقال النبي ﷺ: لا، ما دعوتم الله لهم، وأثنيتم عليهم.
Tirmidhi (2487), Ahmad (13074, 13122), and Bayhaqi (6/183) narrated it through various routes from Humayd, from Anas, who related it, and the wording is Tirmidhi's. Abu Dawud (4812) also narrated it in a shortened form, as did Hakim (2/63), both from the hadith of Hammad bin Salama, from Thabit, from Anas, who related it in a shortened form.Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih gharib from this angle.Hakim said, sahih according to the standard of Muslim.
