When the Muhajirun came to Madinah from Makkah, they had nothing in their hands, while the Ansar were the people of land and property. So the Ansar shared with them on the condition that they give them the produce of their wealth each year, and that the Muhajirun would spare them the work and the upkeep. The mother of Anas, Umm Sulaym, was also the mother of Abdullah bin Abu Talha. She had given the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some date palms, and the Prophet ﷺ gave them to Umm Ayman, his freed slave, the mother of Usama bin Zayd.Ibn Shihab said, Anas bin Malik informed me that when the Prophet ﷺ finished with the killing of the people of Khaybar and returned to Madinah, the Muhajirun returned to the Ansar the gifts they had given them from their produce. So the Prophet ﷺ returned to his mother her date palms, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave Umm Ayman in their place from his own garden.Ahmad bin Shabib said, my father informed us, from Yunus, with this, and he said, "in their place from his own private property."
