Kharija bin Zayd bin Thabit reported,

Umm Ala, a woman from among them who had pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ, related that when the Ansar drew lots regarding the housing of the Muhajirun, Uthman bin Mazun's lot fell to her household.Umm Ala said, "So Uthman bin Mazun came to stay with us. He fell ill, and we nursed him until he passed away. When we had wrapped him in his garments, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to us, and I said, 'May Allah have mercy on you, Abu Saaib. My testimony concerning you is that Allah has surely honored you.'The Prophet ﷺ said to me, 'And how do you know that Allah has honored him?'I said, 'I do not know, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, Messenger of Allah.'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'As for Uthman, by Allah, certainty has come to him, and I do hope good for him. But by Allah, though I am the Messenger of Allah, I do not know what will be done with him.'"She said, "By Allah, I will never declare anyone pure after this, and that grieved me."She continued, "Then I slept and was shown in a dream a flowing spring belonging to Uthman. I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about it, and he said, 'That is his deeds.'"

عن خارجة بن زيد الأنصاري

أن أم العلاء امرأة من نسائهم قد بايعت النبي ﷺ أخبرته أن عثمان بن مظعون طار له سهمه في السكني حين أقرعت الأنصار سكنى المهاجرين، قالت أم العلاء: فسكن عندنا عثمان بن مظعون، فاشتكى فمرضناه، حتى إذا توفي وجعلناه في ثيابه دخل علينا رسول الله ﷺ فقلت: رحمه الله عليك أبا السائب، فشهادتي عليك لقد أكرمك الله، فقال لي النبي ﷺ: وما يدريك أن الله أكرمه؟ فقلت: لا أدري بأبي أنت وأمي يا رسول الله، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أما عثمان فقد جاءه والله اليقين، وإني لأرجو له الخير، والله ما أدري- وأنا رسول الله- ما يفعل به، قالت: فو الله لا أزكي أحدا بعده أبدا، وأحزنني ذلك، قالت: فنمت فأريت لعثمان عينا تجري، فجئت إلى رسول الله ﷺ فأخبرته، فقال: ذلك عمله.
