The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On the night I was taken on the night journey, a sweet fragrance came over me. I asked, 'Jibreel, what is this lovely fragrance?'He said, 'This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Pharaoh's daughter and her children.'I asked, 'What is her story?'He said, 'One day, while she was combing the hair of Pharaoh's daughter, the comb fell from her hand and she said, In the name of Allah. Pharaoh's daughter asked her, My father? She replied, No, rather my Lord and the Lord of your father is Allah. She said, Shall I tell him that? She replied, Yes.So she told him, and he summoned her and said, So-and-so, do you have a Lord other than me?She said, Yes, my Lord and your Lord is Allah. He then ordered a brass cow to be heated, and commanded that she and her children be cast into it. She said to him, I have one request of you.He asked, What is your request? She said, I would like you to gather my bones and the bones of my children in one cloth and bury us together. He said, That is your right upon us.He ordered her children to be thrown in before her, one by one, until it came to a nursing infant of hers, and it was as though she hesitated because of him. The infant said, Mother, plunge in, for the punishment of this world is easier than the punishment of the Hereafter. So she plunged in.'"Ibn Abbas said, "Four infants spoke. Isa son of Maryam , the companion of Jurayj, the witness in the story of Yusuf, and the son of the hairdresser of Pharaoh's daughter."
Imam Ahmad (2821) reported it from Abu Umar the blind, who said, Hammad bin Salama informed us, from Ata bin Saaib, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih. Ata bin Saaib is trustworthy, and the imams affirmed his trustworthiness, though his memory became confused in the latter part of his life, but Hammad bin Salama heard from him before that confusion set in. See its detailed sourcing in the Book of Faith, chapter on affirming loftiness for Allah Most High.As for what Ibn Majah (4030) reported from Ibn Abbas, from Ubayy bin Kaab, in similar wording, its chain contains Saeed bin Bashir, who is daif.
