I saw Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl leaning his back against the Kaabah and saying, "People of Quraysh, none of you today follows the religion of Ibrahim except me."He used to pray at the Kaabah and would say, "My God is the God of Ibrahim, and my religion is the religion of Ibrahim
."He used to save the lives of infant girls who would otherwise be buried alive. Whenever a man intended to kill his daughter, Zayd would say to him, "Do not kill her. Hand her over to me, and I will take care of her expenses." Once she had grown up, he would say to the father, "If you wish, take her now, and if you wish, leave her with me, and I will continue to provide for her."The Prophet ﷺ was asked about him and said, "He will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment as a nation by himself."
Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in Al-Ahad wal-Mathani (771), Nasai in Al-Kubra (8131), and Abu Naeem in Marifat al-Sahaba (2843), all of them through routes going back to Abu Usama, Hammad bin Usama, who said, Hisham bin Urwa narrated to us, from his father, from Asma bint Abu Bakr, who said, and then he mentioned it. In the version of Nasai and Abu Naeem, "He will be raised on the Day of Judgment as a nation by himself, between me and Isa." Its chain of transmission is sahih.Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih (3828) as a suspended report, saying, "Layth said, Hisham wrote to me, from his father, from Asma bint Abu Bakr," except that he did not mention the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, "He will be raised on the Day of Judgment as a nation by himself."His saying, "He will be raised on the Day of Judgment as a nation by himself," means that in his time there was no one else upon the religion of Ibrahim besides him, not even the Christians, for they had become followers of Paulus the monk, who altered the religion of the Messiah and made Isa a son of Allah, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sent with the religion of Ibrahim
