The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am holding you back by your waistbands from the Fire, but you overpower me and plunge into it the way moths and locusts hurl themselves into flames. I am about to release my grip on your waistbands. I will go ahead of you to the Pool, and you will come to me there, some together and some scattered."
Ibn Abu Shayba narrated it in al-Musannaf (11/451-452), and from him Ibn Abu Asim in al-Sunnah (744), Malik bin Ismail told us, Yaqub bin Abdullah Qummi told us, from Hafs bin Humayd, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, from Umar bin Khattab, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Yaqub bin Abdullah Qummi, whom Daraqutni graded daif, while others accepted him, and his hadith is hasan. The beginning of the hadith has sahih corroborating narrations from the hadith of Abu Hurairah in the Sahihayn, Bukhari (6483) and Muslim (2284), and from the hadith of Jabir in Muslim (2285). Its full referencing will come in the chapter on the Virtues of the Prophetﷺ.
