When Hamza bin Abd al-Muttalib came to Medina, he married Khawla bint Qays bin Qahd al-Ansariyya from Banu al-Najjar. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to visit Hamza at her house, and she would relate hadiths from him ﷺ.She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us one day, and I said, "Messenger of Allah, I have heard that you say you will have a basin on the Day of Resurrection stretching from such and such a place to such and such?"He replied, "Yes, and the people I most love to drink from it are your people."She said, I brought him a pot containing khabira, or khazira. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ put his hand into the pot to eat, and his fingers were burned. He exclaimed, "Hass!"Then he said, "The son of Adam, when the cold afflicts him, says 'Hass,' and when the heat afflicts him, says 'Hass.'"
Imam Ahmad (27316) narrated it from Husayn bin Muhammad, who said, Jareer, meaning Ibn Hazim, narrated to us from Yahya bin Saeed, from Yuhanis, and he mentioned the hadith. Yuhanis, with the first letter with a dammah, the unpointed letter with a fathah, the doubled nun with a fathah, then an unpointed letter, is Ibn Abdullah, one of the narrators found in Muslim. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir (24/232), and Ibn Abu Asim in Al-Sunnah (705), by another route, from Hammad bin Zayd, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban, from Khawla bint Qays bin Fahd, who had been the wife of Hamza bin Abdul-Muttalib and was widowed when he was killed. She came to visit the Prophet of Allah and said, "O Prophet of Allah, I had wished to meet you so I could ask you about something. I was told that you speak of a pond of yours stretching from such and such a place to such and such a place..." and she mentioned the hadith in similar fashion, except that Ibn Abu Asim shortened it.Then Tabarani, Imam Ahmad (27315), and Ibn Abu Asim in Al-Sunnah (704) all narrated it by the route of Ibn Abu Shayba, from Abu Khalid Ahmar, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban, from Khawla bint Hakeem, and she mentioned the hadith in shortened form.Tabarani said, "This is how Abu Khalid narrated it, from Khawla bint Hakeem, but the correct version is the hadith of Hammad bin Zayd."I say, it is as he said, for this hadith belongs to the musnad of Khawla bint Qays, and Abu Khalid deviated by attributing it to the musnad of Khawla bint Hakeem.Haythami mentioned the hadith in Al-Majma (10/361) and said, "The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih."A similar report has been narrated from Usama bin Zayd, mentioning both Kawthar and the pond together. Tabarani narrated it. Haythami said in Al-Majma (10/363), "It contains Haram bin Uthman, who is matruk (abandoned)."
