Abdullah bin Masud reported,
On the day of Hunayn, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ favored certain people in the distribution of spoils. He gave Aqra bin Habis a hundred camels, gave Uyayna the same, and gave a number of Arab nobles similar amounts, favoring them that day in the distribution.A man said, "By Allah, this is a distribution in which there has been no justice, and in which the face of Allah was not sought."I said to myself, "By Allah, I will inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what he said."So I came to him and told him what the man had said. His face changed until it became like dyed red leather, then he said, "Who then will be just, if Allah and His Messenger are not just?"Then he said, "May Allah have mercy on Musa. He was harmed with more than this, yet he remained patient."

Sahihعن عبد الله بن مسعود قال
لما كان يوم حنين آثر رسول الله ﷺ ناسا في القسمة، فأعطى الأقرع بن حابس مائة من الإبل، وأعطى عيينة مثل ذلك، وأعطى أناسا من أشراف العرب، وآثرهم يومئذ في القسمة فقال رجل: والله إن هذه لقسمة ما عدل فيها، وما أريد فيها وجه الله قال: فقلت: والله لأخبرن رسول الله ﷺ قال: فأتيته فأخبرته بما قال. قال: فتغير وجهه حتى كان كالصرف ثم قال: فمن يعدل إن لم يعدل الله ورسوله؟ قال: ثم قال: يرحم الله موسى قد أوذي بأكثر من هذا فصبر.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the obligation of khumus (3150), and Muslim in the chapter on zakat (1062: 140), both through routes from Jareer, from Mansur, from Abu Waail, from Abdullah, who said, and then he related it.In another wording, Abdullah said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and whispered to him, and he became angry because of that, angry indeed, and his face reddened until I wished I had not mentioned it. Then he said, 'Musa was troubled...'" Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on the hadiths of the prophets (3405), and Muslim in the chapter on zakat (1062: 141), both from the narration of Amash, who said, I heard Abu Waail say, I heard Abdullah, and then he related it.
