Ibn Hibban narrated it in his Sahih (6449) from Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Musa be-Askar Mukarram, who said, Muhammad bin Muamar told us, who said, Abu Asim told us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr told me, who said, I heard Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related the hadith. Its isnad is hasan because of Abu Zubayr, and Abu Asim is Dahhak bin Makhlad bin Dahhak Shaybani Nabil Basri, one of the men relied upon by the whole community of scholars. This is not disturbed by the statement of Bazzar in Kashf Astar (3481), "We do not know it being narrated with this wording except from Jabir, and this is only known from the hadith of Hajjaj from Ibn Jurayj." It may well have two isnads, this being one of them, and the second being what Hajjaj narrated from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah say (and he related the hadith). Tabarani narrated it by this route in Awsat (753) and said, "This hadith was narrated from Ibn Jurayj only by Hajjaj." I say, rather Abu Asim Nabil also narrated it, and both are trustworthy.The hadith is found in Musnad Ahmad through two other routes. The first (15120) is by the route of Ibn Jurayj, Abu Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir bin Abdullah, without raising it to the Prophet, relating something similar, and it carries the status of a raised hadith. The second route (14719) is by the route of Ibn Lahia, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say, and he related it. There is well known criticism of Ibn Lahia, but he is corroborated here, and there is no harm in relying on him for corroboration.There is also another isnad for it, which Ibn Abu Asim narrated in Sunnah (771) from Muhammad bin Ismail, who said, Ismail bin Abu Uways told us, from Abu Zinad, from Musa bin Uqba, from Abu Zubayr, Jabir told me that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "I am ahead of you, and if you do not find me, I will be at the Hawd. The Hawd extends from Aylah to Makkah. Men and women will come and be driven away from it, and they will not be allowed to taste anything from it."Its isnad is hasan because of the criticism directed at Ismail bin Abu Uways, for there has been discussion about his memory, but the agreement of others with him indicates that he did not err in it, and he is among the men relied upon by the two Shaykhs.The meaning of his saying, "Men and women will come with vessels and waterskins, and then they will not taste anything from it," Ibn Hibban said, "By this is meant those from the rest of the nations who have been forgiven, they will come with vessels intending to draw water from the Hawd with them, but they will not be given anything to drink from it, because the Hawd is exclusively for this nation and not for the rest of the nations, since it is impossible that the disbeliever and the hypocrite would be able to carry vessels and waterskins on the Day of Resurrection, for they will be driven to the Fire. We seek refuge in Allah from that." End of quote.I say, it may also be meant by them the people of innovation from the nation of Muhammad ﷺ who will be prevented from drinking from the Hawd, as is made explicit in the sahih hadiths, "Indeed you do not know what they introduced after you."
