The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman was punished because of a cat she had tied up. She neither fed it nor gave it water, nor did she let it free to eat from the creatures of the earth."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: عذبت امرأة في هرة أوثقتها فلم تطعمها ولم تسقها، ولم تدعها تأكل من خشاش الأرض.
Bukhari related it in the Book of the Beginning of Creation (3318), and Muslim in the Book of Righteousness and Kinship Ties (2242-134), both of them through Abdul-Ala, from Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who mentioned it.
