I set out with my father toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ... in a long hadith which includes the following. My father said to him, "Show me this thing on your back, for I am a physician."He replied, "Allah is the Physician. Rather, you are a kind man. Its physician is the One who created it."In another wording, he then looked at something resembling a tumor between his shoulders and said, "Messenger of Allah, I treat men, shall I not treat this for you?"He said, "No. Its physician is the One who created it."In another wording, my father said to him, "I am a physician, so show me this tumor on your back."He asked, "And what would you do with it?"He said, "I would cut it off."He said, "You are not a physician, but rather a kind man. Its physician is the One who placed it." Another reported, "The One who created it."In another wording, "I am a physician from a household of physicians, so show me your back. If it is a tumor, I will lance it, and if it is something else, I will inform you. There is no person more knowledgeable about a wound or an abscess than I."He said, "Its physician is Allah."
