The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The jinn are of three kinds. One kind has wings and flies through the air, another kind takes the form of snakes and dogs, and another kind settles and travels."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: الجن ثلاثة أصناف، صنف لهم أجنحة يطيرون في الهواء، وصنف حيات وكلاب، وصنف يحلون ويظعنون.
Tahawi narrated it in Sharh Mushkil (2941), Tabarani in Kabir (22/214) and in Musnad Shamiyin (1956), Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (6156), and Abu Naeem in Hilya (5/137), all of them through various chains from Muawiya bin Salih, from Abu Zahiriya, from Jubayr bin Nufayr, from Abu Thalaba Khushani, who related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Zahiriya, who is Hudayr, with the ha vowelled with damma and the dal with fatha, bin Kurayb, for his hadith is hasan.
