He heard the Prophet say, "His Basin extends from Sanaa to Medina."Mustawrid asked him, "Did you not hear him mention the vessels?"He replied, "No."Mustawrid said, "You will see in it vessels like the stars."
أنه سمع النبي يقول: حوضه ما بين صنعاء والمدينة. فقال له المستورد: ألم تسمعه قال: الأواني؟ قال: لا. فقال المستورد: ترى فيه الآنية مثل الكواكب.
Bukhari narrated it in Riqaq (6591), and Muslim in Fadail (2298), both from the hadith of Harmi bin Umara, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Mabad bin Khalid, that he heard Haritha bin Wahb say, and then he related the hadith.The addition concerning Mustawrid was mentioned by Bukhari as a suspended report, where he said, Ibn Abu Adi added, from Shuba, from Mabad bin Khalid, from Haritha bin Wahb. Muslim gave it with a full connected chain, from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Bazi, who said, Ibn Abu Adi narrated to us with his chain of transmission. And following the narration of Harmi bin Umara, he said, "He did not mention the statement of Mustawrid, nor his saying."Mustawrid, with a damma on the mim, a sakin on the plain unpointed letter, a fatha on the two-dotted letter, followed by a sakin waw, then a kasra on the ra, then a plain unpointed letter, is the son of Shaddad bin Amr bin Hasl, with a kasra on its first letter and a sakin on the second, al-Qurashi al-Fihri, a companion and the son of a companion. Hafiz said, "He has no place in Bukhari except this single instance, and his hadith is marfu even though this was not explicitly stated."Al-aniyah is the plural of ina, meaning a container, and what is meant by it here are the cups used to drink from the Hawd. His saying, "like the stars," means in abundance and brightness, as the stars appear in the sky.
