We were forbidden from asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about anything, so it used to please us when an intelligent man from the desert people would come and ask him while we listened.A man from the desert people came and said, "Muhammad, your messenger came to us and claimed that you claim Allah has sent you."He replied, "He told the truth."The man asked, "Who created the heaven?"He answered, "Allah."The man asked, "Who created the earth?"He answered, "Allah."The man asked, "Who set up these mountains and placed in them what He placed?"He answered, "Allah."The man said, "By the One who created the heaven, created the earth, and set up these mountains, has Allah sent you?"He answered, "Yes."The man said, "Your messenger claimed that we are obligated to perform five prayers during our day and night."He replied, "He told the truth."The man asked, "By the One who sent you, has Allah commanded you with this?"He answered, "Yes."The man said, "Your messenger claimed that we are obligated to give zakat from our wealth."He replied, "He told the truth."The man asked, "By the One who sent you, has Allah commanded you with this?"He answered, "Yes."The man said, "Your messenger claimed that we are obligated to fast the month of Ramadan in our year."He replied, "He told the truth."The man asked, "By the One who sent you, has Allah commanded you with this?"He answered, "Yes."The man said, "Your messenger claimed that we are obligated to perform pilgrimage to the House, whoever is able to find a way to it."He replied, "He told the truth."Then the man turned to leave and said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will not add to them nor subtract from them."The Prophet ﷺ said, "If he has spoken truthfully, he will surely enter Paradise."
نهينا أن نسأل رسول الله ﷺ عن شيء فكان يعجبنا أن يجيء الرجل من أهل البادية العاقل فيسأله ونحن نسمع فجاء رجل من أهل البادية فقال: يا محمد أتانا رسولك فزعم لنا أنك تزعم أن الله أرسلك؟ قال: صدق، قال: فمن خلق السماء؟ قال: الله قال: فمن خلق الأرض؟ قال: الله قال: فمن نصب هذه الجبال وجعل فيها ما جعل؟ قال: الله قال: فبالذي خلق السماء وخلق الأرض ونصب هذه الجبال الله أرسلك؟ قال: نعم قال: وزعم رسولك أن علينا خمس صلوات في يومنا وليلتنا؟ قال: صدق قال: فبالذي أرسلك الله أمرك بهذا؟ قال: نعم قال: وزعم رسولك أن علينا زكاة في أموالنا؟ قال: صدق قال: فبالذي أرسلك الله أمرك بهذا؟ قال: نعم قال: وزعم رسولك أن علينا صوم شهر رمضان في سنتنا؟ قال: صدق قال: فبالذي أرسلك الله أمرك بهذا؟ قال: نعم قال: وزعم رسولك أن علينا حج البيت من استطاع إليه سبيلا؟ قال: صدق قال: ثم ولى قال: والذي بعثك بالحق لا أزيد عليهن ولا أنقص منهن فقال النبي ﷺ: لئن صدق ليدخلن الجنة.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (12), and Bukhari mentioned it as a suspended hadith (muallaq) in the Book of Knowledge, following hadith (63), without citing its wording. Both came through the route of Sulayman bin Mughira, from Thabit, from Anas, who related it.It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Prophet ﷺ said, "When Allah created the earth, it began to shake, so He created the mountains and placed them upon it, and it became still. The angels marveled at the creation of the mountains and said, 'O Lord, is there anything among your creation stronger than the mountains?' He said, 'Yes, iron.' They said, 'O Lord, is there anything among your creation stronger than iron?' He said, 'Yes, fire.' They said, 'O Lord, is there anything among your creation stronger than fire?' He said, 'Yes, water.' They said, 'O Lord, is there anything among your creation stronger than water?' He said, 'Yes, wind.' They said, 'O Lord, is there anything among your creation stronger than wind?' He said, 'Yes, the son of Adam who gives charity with his right hand, concealing it from his left.'"Ahmad narrated it (12253), and Tirmidhi (3369), both through the route of Yazid bin Harun, who reported to us from Awwam bin Hawshab, from Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman, from Anas bin Malik, who related it.Sulayman bin Abu Sulayman, the freedman of Ibn Abbas, is majhul (unknown). Ibn Hajar said, "Acceptable," meaning when corroborated, but I have not found any corroboration for him, so his hadith is weak in transmission strength.
