Muslim narrated it in the Book of Divine Decree (2653:16), from Abu Tahir Ahmad bin Amr bin Abdullah bin Amr bin Sarh, who said, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Abu Hani Khawlani informed me, from Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli, from Abdullah bin Amr bin As, and he related it.In a wording given by Bayhaqi in Asma wal-Sifat (799), "Allah, Mighty and Majestic, finished with the decrees and the affairs of this world fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, while His Throne was upon the water." He narrated it through several routes from Abu Hani, from Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related it.As for what was reported from Abu Hurairah, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand and said, 'Allah created the soil on Saturday, and created the mountains within it on Sunday, and created the trees on Monday, and created what is disliked on Tuesday, and created light on Wednesday, and spread the animals through it on Thursday, and created Adam after Asr on Friday, at the very end of creation, in the last hour of the hours of Friday, between Asr and nightfall.'"Muslim narrated it in the Description of the Resurrection (2789:27), but the sahih view is that this is from the words of Kaab Ahbar, which Abu Hurairah heard from him, and some narrators became confused and attributed it to Abu Hurairah from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.Bukhari mentioned it in Tarikh al-Kabir (1/413-414) and said, "Some of them said, from Abu Hurairah from Kaab, and this is more sahih."Sheikh Islam bin Taymiya said in Majmu Fatawa (17/236), "This is a defective hadith that the imams of hadith, such as Bukhari and others, have criticized, and the sahih view is that it is a saying stopped at Kaab Ahbar."See for more, Book of Faith, Chapter on What Has Been Said Regarding Allah's Rising Above the Throne.
