Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, who had a dispute with Anas over a piece of land, went in to see Ayesha and mentioned the matter to her.She said, "Abu Salama, stay away from that land, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever wrongfully takes even a hand-span of land will have it placed around his neck from the seven earths.'"
Bukhari narrated it in the Beginning of Creation (3195), and Muslim in Sharecropping (1612: 142), both from the narration of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Harith, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, who related it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and in Muslim's version it reads "among his people" instead of "among some people," with the rest the same.
