The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever dies associating anything with Allah will enter the Fire." And I said, "Whoever dies not associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من مات يشرك بالله شيئا دخل النار. وقلت أنا: من مات لا يشرك بالله شيئا دخل الجنة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1238) from Umar bin Hafs bin Ghiyath, who said, my father narrated to us, who said, Amash narrated to us, who said, Shaqiq narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Masud, and he mentioned it.Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (92) through another route from Waki and Ibn Numayr, from Amash, with the same wording. The narrations in Sahihayn do not differ in that the version attributed to the Prophet contains the threat, while the version stopped at the companion contains the promise. Whoever says that Muslim narrated it through the route of Waki and others the other way around has erred. In the hadith of Ibn Masud there is evidence that he relied on the implication of the statement (dalil al-khitab), which is a matter of dispute among the scholars of legal theory. Had Ibn Masud known of the hadith of Jabir, which will come after this, he would not have needed to resort to that.
