Abdullah reported that he came to the Prophet ﷺ along with a group of his companions. They said to him, "Watch our mounts, then you may enter," for he was the youngest of the group. The Prophet ﷺ saw to their needs, then they said to him, "Go in." So he entered. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What do you need?"He replied, "What I need is for you to tell me, has the time for hijrah ended?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Your need is better than theirs. Hijrah will not cease as long as the enemy is being fought."
It was narrated by Ahmad (22324) and Bayhaqi (9/17–18), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (4866), all of them from the hadith of Abdullah bin Muhayriz, from Abdullah bin Saadi, who related it. It was also narrated by Ahmad (1671) and Nasai (4172, 4173) with another hasan chain, in similar wording.
