He brought a nephew of his to the Prophet ﷺ so that he could pledge allegiance on the basis of emigration. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, rather let him pledge allegiance on the basis of Islam, for there is no emigration after the conquest. He will be among those who follow in excellence."
أنه أتى النبي ﷺ بابن أخ له، يبايعه على الهجرة. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لا، بل يبايع على الإسلام، فإنه لا هجرة بعد الفتح، ويكون من التابعين بإحسان.
Ahmad (15847), Ibn Abu Asim in Al-Ahad wal-Mathani (1404), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (20/768) all reported it through the route of Abu Muawiya, meaning Shayban, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Yahya bin Ishaq, from Mujashi bin Masud, who related it.Its chain of transmission is sahih. Yahya bin Ishaq, also said to be Ibn Abu Ishaq the Ansari, is trustworthy. Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban both affirmed his reliability.Reconciling this narration with the one before it, Mujashi brought his brother just as he also brought his nephew.
