I came to the Prophet ﷺ with my brother after the Conquest and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have brought you my brother so that you may take his pledge upon emigration."He replied, "The people of emigration have taken what came with it."I asked, "Then upon what will you take his pledge?"He said, "I will take his pledge upon Islam, faith, and jihad."I later met Abu Mabad, who was the elder of the two brothers, and asked him about it. He said, "Mujash spoke the truth."
It was narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Military Expeditions (4305, 4306) and Muslim in the Book of Leadership (1863:84), both through routes from Asim bin Sulayman Ahwal, from Abu Uthman Nahdi, who said, Mujashi bin Masud Sulami informed me, and he said, then he mentioned it.In another version with Muslim (1863:83), through the route of Ismail bin Zakariya, from Asim Ahwal with his chain, it states that it was Mujashi bin Masud Sulami himself who came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him, but the first version is the correct one. Daraqutni likewise confirmed this. The name of his brother is Mujalid bin Masud, and his kunya is Abu Mabad.
