The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "What is al-Kawthar?"He replied, "It is a river Allah has given me," meaning in Paradise, "whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. In it are birds whose necks are like the necks of camels."Umar remarked, "These birds are indeed comfortable!"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Those who eat them are even better off than they are."
سئل رسول الله ﷺ: ما الكوثر؟ قال: ذاك نهرأعطانيه الله يعني في الجنة- أشد بياضا من اللبن، وأحلى. من العسل، فيها طير أعناقها كأعناق الجزر. قال عمر: إن هذه الناعمة! قال رسول الله ﷺ: أكلتها احسن منها.
Tirmidhi (2542) narrated it from Abd bin Humayd, who reported from Abdullah bin Maslama, from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muslim, from his father, from Anas bin Malik, as mentioned.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, and Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muslim is the nephew of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, and Abdullah bin Muslim narrated from Ibn Umar and Anas bin Malik."Imam Ahmad (13475) narrated it through another route from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muslim, with his chain, and in it, "its soil is musk." The one who says in it, "It is indeed soft," is Abu Bakr, not Umar. Its chain is hasan, as Tirmidhi said, for Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muslim has hasan hadith.Hakim (2/537) narrated it through another route from Abu Uways, from Zuhri, from his brother Abdullah bin Muslim bin Shihab, from Anas, mentioning the same. The one who says in it, "It is indeed soft," is Abu Bakr. Through this same route, Imam Ahmad (13480) also narrated it, except that the one who says it is Umar bin Khattab.And Allah, the Exalted, knows best.
