The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no Muslim soul whom its Lord takes in death that would wish to return to you, even if it were given the world and all that is in it, except the martyr."Ibn Abu Umayra said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "That I be killed in the path of Allah is dearer to me than possessing all the people of the tents and the towns."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: ما من الناس من نفس مسلمة يقبضها ربها تحب أن ترجع إليكم وأن لها الدنيا وما فيها غير الشهيد. قال ابن أبي عميرة قال رسول الله ﷺ: ولأن أقتل في سبيل الله أحب إلي من أن يكون لي أهل الوبر والمدر.
Nasai (3153) and Ahmad (17894) narrated it through two routes from Baqiya, who said, "Buhayr bin Saad narrated to me, from Khalid bin Madan, from Jubayr bin Nufayr, from Ibn Abu Umayra," and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Baqiya bin Walid, for his narrations are hasan when he explicitly states that he heard the hadith directly. Ibn Abu Umayra's name is Abdul-Rahman, and there has been disagreement about whether he was a companion, though the more likely view is that he was.
