Ayesha reported,

Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, asked Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to apportion to her, her inheritance from what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left from the spoils that Allah had granted him.Abu Bakr said to her, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We are not inherited from. What we leave behind is charity.'"Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, became angry and ceased speaking with Abu Bakr. She remained estranged from him until she died. She lived for six months after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The narrator said, Fatimah used to ask Abu Bakr for her share of what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left from Khaybar, Fadak, and his charitable endowment in Madinah. Abu Bakr refused her this and said, "I will not abandon anything that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do, but I will do it as well, for I fear that if I leave any part of his practice, I shall go astray."As for his charitable endowment in Madinah, Umar handed it over to Ali and Abbas, and Ali prevailed over it. As for Khaybar and Fadak, Umar held on to them and said, "These are the charity of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They were set aside for the dues that came upon him and the calamities that befell him, and their administration belongs to whoever holds authority."The narrator said, And so they have remained until this day.In another wording, Fatimah, peace be upon her, sent word to Abu Bakr asking him for her inheritance from the Prophet ﷺ from what Allah had granted to His Messenger ﷺ as spoils. She sought the Prophet's charitable endowment in Madinah, Fadak, and what remained of the fifth of Khaybar.Abu Bakr said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'We are not inherited from. What we leave behind is charity. The family of Muhammad only eats from this wealth,'" meaning the wealth of Allah, "'and they are not entitled to take more than their sustenance.' By Allah, I will not change anything of the Prophet's charitable endowments ﷺ from the state in which they were during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and I shall surely manage them just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ managed them."
