The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My Lord has favored me over the prophets," or he said, "over the nations, with four things. I have been sent to all people. The entire earth has been made a place of prayer and a means of purification for me and my nation, so wherever a man of my nation is overtaken by the time of prayer, he has his place of prayer and his means of purification right there. I have been aided with awe that strikes the hearts of my enemies from a month's journey away. And the spoils of war have been made lawful for us."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: فضلني ربي على الأنبياء- أو قال: على الأمم- بأربع. قال: أرسلت إلى الناس كافة، وجعلت الأرض كلها لي ولأمتي مسجدا وطهورا، فأينما أدركت رجلا من أمتي الصلاة فعنده مسجده، وعنده طهوره، ونصرت بالرعب مسيرة شهر، يقذفه في قلوب أعدائي، وأحل لنا الغنائم.
Ahmad narrated it (22137, 22209), and Tirmidhi (1553) and Bayhaqi (1,2/212, 433–434) through various routes from Sulayman Taymi, from Sayyar, from Abu Umama, who related it. The wording given is Ahmad's. Tirmidhi restricted himself to his saying, "Allah has favored me above the prophets, or he said, my nation above the nations, and He has permitted the spoils of war for us."Its chain is hasan because of Sayyar, who is the Umawi, their freedman, the Damascene. Several narrators reported from him, and Ibn Hibban and Ibn Khalfun listed him among the reliable narrators in their books. Tirmidhi graded his narration hasan, and there will come from Bukhari's statement something indicating a strengthening of his standing. For this reason Hafiz said in Taqrib, "He is truthful."Tirmidhi said, the hadith of Abu Umama is a hasan sahih hadith. And he said in Ilal al-Kabir (2/663), "I asked Muhammad about this hadith and said to him, who is this Sayyar who narrated from Abu Umama? He said, he is Sayyar, the freedman of the Banu Muawiya, who met Abu Umama and narrated from him, and he narrated from Abu Idris Khawlani, and Sulayman Taymi and Abdullah bin Bujayr narrated from Sayyar."Haythami said in Majma (8/259), "The men of Ahmad are reliable narrators (thiqat)."And Ibn Mulaqqin said in Badr Munir (2/624), "And in the Fawaid of Abu Abdullah Thaqafi, with a sahih chain, from Abu Umama..." and he related something similar to it.
