The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever keeps a horse ready for the cause of Allah and spends on it seeking reward in the cause of Allah, then its fullness and its hunger, its quenched thirst and its thirst, its dung and its urine will all be a gain in his scales on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever keeps a horse for show, for reputation, for joy, and for arrogance, then its fullness and its hunger, its quenched thirst and its thirst, its dung and its urine will all be a loss in his scales on the Day of Resurrection."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: الخيل في نواصيها الخير معقود أبدا إلى يوم القيامة، فمن ربطها عدة في سبيل الله، وأنفق عليها احتسابا في سبيل الله، فإن شبعها وجوعها وريها وظمأها وأرواثها وأبوالها فلاح في موازينه يوم القيامة، ومن ربطها رياء وسمعة وفرحا ومرحا فإن شبعها وجوعها وريها وظمأها وأرواثها وأبوالها خسران في موازينه يوم القيامة.
Ahmad (27574, 27593) and Abd bin Humayd (1583) narrated it through multiple routes from Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram, who said, "Shahr bin Hawshab narrated to me," who said, "Asma bint Yazid narrated to me," and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Shahr, for his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others and does not bring something that is rejected against him, especially when Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram narrates from him, for more than one scholar has accepted what Abdul-Hameed narrates from Shahr.Munziri said, "Ahmad narrated it with a hasan chain."
