Abu Talha used to share a single shield with the Prophet ﷺ for cover. Abu Talha was a skilled archer, and whenever he shot an arrow, the Prophet ﷺ would rise up to look at where it landed.
كان أبو طلحة يتترس مع النبي ﷺ بترس واحد، وكان أبو طلحة حسن الرمي، فكان إذا رمى تشرف النبي ﷺ فينظر إلى موضع نبله.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Jihad (2902), from Ahmad bin Muhammad, who said, Abdullah told us, who said, Uzai told us, from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha, from Anas bin Malik, and he related it.His saying, "the shield," refers to a round piece of iron used for protection in war.
