Abu Talha did not fast during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ because of his involvement in military expeditions. After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, I never saw him break his fast except on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha.
كان أبو طلحة لا يصوم على عهد النبي ﷺ من أجل الغزو، فلما قبض النبي ﷺ لم أره مفطرا إلا يوم فطر أو أضحى.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (2828), from Adam, who said, Shuba narrated to us, who said, Thabit Bunani narrated to us, who said, I heard Anas bin Malik say... and then he mentioned it.
