Abu Hurairah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Wretched is the slave of the Dinar, the slave of the dirham, and the slave of the fine garment. If he is given, he is pleased, and if he is not given, he is angry. Wretched and ruined may he be, and if he is pricked by a thorn, may it not be removed.Blessed is the servant who holds the reins of his horse in the cause of Allah, with his hair disheveled and his feet covered in dust. If he is assigned to stand guard, he stands guard, and if he is assigned to the rear, he stays at the rear. If he asks permission to enter, he is not granted it, and if he intercedes, his intercession is not accepted."
