The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I know a stone in Mecca that used to greet me with peace before I was sent as a prophet. I still recognize it now."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إني لأعرف حجرا بمكة كان يسلم علي قبل أن أبعث، إني لأعرفه الآن.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Merits (2277) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Yahya bin Abu Bukayr told us, from Ibrahim bin Tahman, who said, Simak bin Harb told me, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it.As for what was narrated from Ali bin Abu Talib, who said, "I was with the Prophet in Makkah, and we went out to some of its outskirts, and no mountain or tree faced him except that it said, 'Peace be upon you, Messenger of Allah,'" this is daif. Tirmidhi narrated it (3626) from Abbad bin Yaqub Kufi, who said, Walid bin Abu Thawr told us, from Suddi, from Abbad bin Abu Yazid, from Ali bin Abu Talib, and he related it.Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib," and said, More than one narrator has reported from Walid bin Abu Thawr, and they said "from Abbad Abu Yazid," among them Farwa bin Abu Mughra. End of quote.I say, it contains Walid bin Abdullah bin Abu Thawr, who is sometimes attributed to his grandfather, and he is daif. It has other chains of transmission, all of them daif.
