Abu Humayd reported,

The Prophet ﷺ appointed Ibn al-Lutbiyyah to collect the charity from the tribe of Banu Sulaym. When he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and presented his account, he said, "This is what belongs to you, and this is a gift that was given to me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Why did you not sit in the house of your father and the house of your mother and wait for your gift to come to you, if you are truthful?"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and addressed the people. He praised Allah and glorified Him, then said, "To proceed. I appoint men from among you over affairs that Allah has placed under my authority, and one of you comes and says, 'This is for you, and this is a gift that was given to me.' Why did he not sit in the house of his father and the house of his mother and wait for his gift to come to him, if he is truthful? By Allah, none of you takes anything from it" Hisham said, "without right" "except that he will come on the Day of Resurrection carrying it before Allah. I shall surely recognize any man who comes before Allah carrying a camel that grunts, or a cow that lows, or a sheep that bleats."Then he raised his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits. "Have I not conveyed the message?"
