Abdullah bin Abbas reported,
Musaylimah the Liar came during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and began to say, "If Muhammad grants me succession after him, I will follow him." He arrived accompanied by a large number of his people.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to meet him, accompanied by Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, and in the Messenger of Allah's hand was a piece of palm branch. He stood before Musaylimah, who was among his companions, and said, "If you were to ask me for this piece, I would not give it to you. You will not escape what Allah has decreed concerning you, and if you turn away, Allah will surely destroy you. Indeed, I see you as the one I was shown about in my vision."

Sahihعن ابن عباس قال
قدم مسيلمة الكذاب على عهد رسول الله ﷺ، فجعل يقول: إن جعل لي محمد الأمر من بعده تبعته، وقدمها في بشر كثير من قومه، فأقبل إليه رسول الله ﷺ، ومعه ثابت بن قيس بن شماس، وفي يد رسول الله ﷺ قطعة جريد، حتى وقف على مسيلمة في أصحابه، فقال: لو سألتني هذه القطعة ما أعطيتكها، ولن تعدو أمر الله فيك، ولئن أدبرت ليعقرنك الله، وإني لأراك الذي أريت فيك ما رأيت.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Virtues (3620), and Muslim in the Book of Dreams (2273:21), both through the route of Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb informed us from Abdullah bin Abu Husayn, who said, Nafi bin Jubayr narrated to us from Ibn Abbas 
, who said, then he mentioned it.Bukhari also narrated it (4378) from three of the Tabiin, namely Salih bin Kaysan, Abdullah bin Ubayda, and Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utba bin Masud, as a mursal report, "When Musaylima came to Madinah, he stayed in the house of the daughter of Harith, for the daughter of Harith bin Kurayz was his wife, and she was the mother of Abdullah bin Amir. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him, accompanied by Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas, who was known as the orator of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Then he related the rest of the hadith in the same way.His statement, "If Muhammad grants me authority after him," means the caliphate. And the statement of the Prophet ﷺ, "Indeed I see you as the one I was shown," refers to the dream he had seen, which was as Ubaydullah bin Abdullah related, I asked Abdullah bin Abbas about the dream of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he had mentioned, and Ibn Abbas said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me, he said, "While I was sleeping, I saw that two gold bracelets were placed on my hand, and this alarmed and displeased me. Then I was given permission, so I blew on them, and they flew away. I interpreted them as two liars who would appear." Ubaydullah said, one of them was Ansi, whom Fayruz killed in Yemen, and the other was Musaylima the Liar. Bukhari mentioned it (4379).As for his statement, "in the house of the daughter of Harith, for the daughter of Harith bin Kurayz was his wife," "his wife" means the wife of Musaylima the Liar, before she married another man, and that is why Musaylima stayed with his people at her house. Their number was seventeen men, as Waqidi mentioned.
