Regarding the verse "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you" [Nisa 4:59], he said, "It was revealed concerning Abdullah bin Huzafa bin Qays bin Adi, when the Prophet ﷺ sent him out on a military expedition."
{أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول وأولي الأمر منكم} قال: نزلت في عبد الله بن حذافة بن قيس بن عدي إذ بعثه النبي ﷺ في سرية.
Bukhari narrated it in the tafsir (4584), and Muslim in the emirate (1834), both through Hajjaj bin Muhammad, from Ibn Jurayj, from Yaala bin Muslim, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, who said, and then he mentioned it. The wording given here is Bukhari's.
