Musaddad narrated it (2157 - Matalib) from Jafar bin Sulayman, from Mualla, from Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umama, and he related it. Tabarani narrated it (8/337) via Musaddad, with similar wording. Its chain is hasan because of Jafar bin Sulayman and Abu Ghalib, since the hadith of each of them is hasan. Haythami said in Majma (5/235), "Tabarani narrated it in Kabir and Awsat, and the narrators of Kabir are trustworthy."As for what was narrated from Anas, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Allah will question every shepherd about what he was entrusted to guard, whether he preserved it or neglected it, until the man is questioned about the people of his household," the correct view is that it is mursal. Nasai narrated it in Kubra (9129), and Ibn Hibban (10492), both from the hadith of Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, "Muaz bin Hisham narrated to us, saying, 'My father narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas,'" and he related it. However, Nasai favored that it is mursal, narrated from Muaz bin Hisham, who said, "My father narrated to me, from Qatada, from Hasan," similarly. Likewise, Tirmidhi related in his Sunan (1705) from Bukhari that, after presenting the connected narration, he said, "This is not preserved, rather the sahih version is from Muaz bin Hisham, from his father, from Qatada, from Hasan, from the Prophet ﷺ, as mursal," and this is also what Tirmidhi and Daraqutni favored in his Ilal (12/146).Likewise, what was narrated from Abu Musa, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock," the correct view is that it is mursal. Tirmidhi narrated it (1705) from Bukhari, and it is found in his Tarikh al-Kabir (2/140), from Ibrahim bin Bashar Ramadi, from Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Burayd bin Abdullah bin Abu Burda, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa, from the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Awana narrated it (7037) via other routes from Ibrahim bin Bashar, with the same wording. Bukhari said, "This is a mistake, Ibn Uyayna used to narrate it as mursal." Tirmidhi said, "The hadith of Abu Musa is not preserved." Ibn Adi said, "As for this Ibrahim bin Bashar, I do not know of anything held against him except this hadith that Bukhari mentioned, and the rest of his hadith from Ibn Uyayna, Abu Muawiya, and others among the trustworthy narrators is sound apart from that, and he is, in our view, among the people of truthfulness." Kamil (1/265).With similar meaning is what was narrated from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah does not entrust a servant with a flock, whether small or large, except that Allah will question him about it on the Day of Judgment, whether he upheld the command of Allah among them or neglected it, until He questions him about the people of his household specifically." Ahmad narrated it (4637), and Ibn Khuzayma in Siyasa, as in Ithaf Mahra (8/296), via Yunus bin Ubayd, from Hasan, from Ibn Umar, and he related it. Ibn Khuzayma said, "Hasan did not hear this report from Ibn Umar. Muhammad bin Abdul-Ala narrated to us, Yazid bin Zuray narrated to us, Yunus narrated to us, from Hasan, who said, 'I was informed that Ibn Umar said,'" and he related it.
