The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I had previously forbidden you from making nabidh in certain vessels. Know that a vessel does not make anything forbidden, but every intoxicant is forbidden."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إني كنت نهيتكم عن نبيذ الأوعية، ألا وإن وعاء لا يحرم شيئا، وكل مسكر حرام.
Ibn Majah (3406) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (5409) graded it sahih, both through the route of Ibn Wahb, who said, Ibn Jurayj informed us, from Ayub bin Hani, from Masruq Ajdaa, from Ibn Masud, and he mentioned it.Through this same route, Hakim (1/375) narrated it and added at its beginning, "I had forbidden you from visiting graves and from eating the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days."Its chain is hasan because of Ayub bin Hani Kufi, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others. Busiri graded its chain hasan in Misbah Zujaja (3/108).
