Nabidh used to be prepared for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a waterskin, and when they could not find a waterskin, it would be prepared for him in a stone vessel. One of the people, while I was listening, asked Abu Zubayr, "Made of stone?"He replied, "Made of stone."He added in another narration, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the use of the gourd, the hollowed-out stump, and the pitch-coated jar."
كان ينتبذ لرسول الله ﷺ في سقاء، فإذا لم يجدوا سقاء نبذ له في تور من حجارة، فقال بعض القوم- وأنا أسمع لأبي الزبير-: من برام؟ قال: من برام. وزاد في رواية: ونهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الدباء والنقير والمزفت.
Muslim reported it in "The Book of Drinks" (1999: 62) via Zuhayr bin Abu Khaythama, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, and then he mentioned it. The other narration is from Nasai (5648), from a different route, from Abu Zubayr, with a sahih chain.His saying, "from biram" is the plural of birmah, which originally refers to a vessel made of stone.
