When the delegation of Abdul-Qays came to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, they said, "Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us your ransom, what drinks are permissible for us?"He said, "Do not drink from the naqir."They said, "Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us your ransom, do you know what the naqir is?"He replied, "Yes, it is a palm trunk hollowed out in the middle. And do not drink from the gourd, nor from the green-glazed jar. Stick to the waterskin tied with a string."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (18:28), from Muhammad bin Rafi, who said, "Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us" and it is found in his Musannaf (16929), "Ibn Jurayj informed us," he said, "Abu Qazaa informed me, that Abu Nadra informed him, and Hasan informed both of them, that Abu Saeed Khudri said," then he mentioned the hadith.Regarding his statement "and Hasan informed both of them," this means that Abu Nadra and Hasan both informed him that Abu Saeed said what he said. But Hasan never met Abu Saeed, so Muslim mentioned a corroborating narrator, namely Abu Nadra, and through that the chain of transmission became connected. There is further discussion about this chain, and this is a summary of it. Refer to what Nawawi mentioned in his commentary on Sahih Muslim.Regarding his statement "and use the tied waterskin," with a damma on the mim and a silent, shortened waw, its meaning is, steep the dates in the narrow-necked waterskin that is tied, meaning its mouth is fastened with the wika, which is the string used to tie it.
