I heard Abdullah bin Umar say, while standing by this pulpit, pointing to the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "The delegation of Abdul-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about beverages, and he forbade them from using the gourd, the hollowed stump, and the green jar."I said to him, "Abu Muhammad, what about the pitch-coated vessel?" thinking he had forgotten to mention it.He replied, "I did not hear that one from Abdullah bin Umar on that day, though he used to dislike it."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (1997:58) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, Abdul-Khaliq bin Salama informed us, he said, I heard Saeed bin Musayab say, and then he mentioned it.
