The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade certain drinks. It was said to him, "But there is no avoiding them."He replied, "Drink only what does not impair your minds nor squander your wealth."
نهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الأشربة فقيل: إنه لا بد منها فقال: اشربوا ما لا يسفه أحلامكم، ولا يذهب أموالكم.

Tabarani reported it, and Diya reported it through the same route in al-Mukhtarah (9/no. 642), from Abdan bin Ahmad, who said, Husayn bin Mahdi narrated to us, who said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, from Thawri, from Jareeri, from Yazid bin Abdullah, from his father, who said, then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Husayn bin Mahdi Basri, about whom Abu Hatim said, "Truthful," while the rest of its narrators are trustworthy. Yazid bin Abdullah is Ibn Shakhir. And Jareeri is Saeed bin Iyas, and although his memory became confused later in life, Sufyan Thawri's hearing from him was before that confusion set in, as Ibn Main, Ajli, and others have stated explicitly.Haythami said in al-Majmu (5/66), "Tabarani reported it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Husayn bin Mahdi, who is trustworthy."
