Reported by Hakim (4/145), and from him by Bayhaqi in Shuab al-Iman (5199), via Naeem bin Hammad, who said, Darawardi told us, from Amr bin Abu Amr, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who said, then he related the hadith. Its chain is hasan due to the disagreement over Naeem bin Hammad, who is hasan al-hadith as long as he does not contradict others, and likewise his teacher Darawardi, who is truthful. Hakim said, "sahih in chain." Hakim said, "Its chain is sahih."As for what is reported from Uthman bin Affan, who said, I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Avoid the mother of all vices, for there was a man among those before you who devoted himself to worship and kept apart from people. A woman became infatuated with him, so she sent a servant girl to him, saying, 'We are inviting you to bear witness.' He went in, and as he passed through each door she closed it behind him, until he found himself before a beautiful woman sitting there, with a boy beside her and a jug of wine. She said, 'We did not call you to bear witness, but we called you either to kill this boy, or to lie with me, or to drink a cup of this wine. If you refuse, I will scream and disgrace you.' When he saw that he had no way out, he said, 'Give me a cup of this wine to drink.' So she gave him a cup of wine to drink, and he said, 'Give me more,' and he kept on until he lay with her and killed the boy. So avoid wine, for by Allah, faith and habitual drinking of wine never coexist in a man's breast, one of the two is bound to drive out the other." This is daif.It was reported by Ibn Hibban (5348), and by Ibn Abu Dunya in Dhamm al-Muskir (1), and from his route Diya Maqdisi in al-Mukhtarah (371), via Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Bazee, who said, Fudayl bin Sulayman Numayri told us, who said, Umar bin Saeed told us, from Zuhri, who said, Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham informed me, from his father Abdul-Rahman bin Harith, who said, I heard Uthman bin Affan giving a sermon, and he said, then he related the hadith.Umar bin Saeed, though trustworthy, was not sound in his transmission from Zuhri, as Ibn Adi stated in al-Kamil, and Daraqutni likewise declared him daif. And beyond his weakness regarding Zuhri, a group of trustworthy narrators contradicted him in their transmission from Zuhri, reporting it from him as stopped at Uthman bin Affan, as Daraqutni mentioned in al-Ilal (3/41). This stopped version was reported by Nasai (5666, 5667).
