I was serving a drink made from unripe dates and ripe dates to Abu Ubayda bin al-Jarrah, Abu Talha al-Ansari, and Ubayy bin Kaab. Someone came to them and said, "Wine has been forbidden."Abu Talha said, "Anas, get up and break these jars."So I went to a stone mortar of ours and struck the jars with its base until they were shattered.
كنت أسقي أبا عبيدة بن الجراح، وأبا طلحة الأنصاري، وأبي بن كعب شرابا من فضيخ وتمر، قال: فجاءهم آت فقال: إن الخمر قد حرمت، فقال أبو طلحة: يا أنس! قم إلى هذه الجرار فاكسرها، قال: فقمت إلى مهراس لنا فضربتها بأسفله حتى تكسرت.
