The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Plundered spoils are not lawful, nor is any predator with fangs lawful, nor is an animal that has been tied up and used as a target lawful."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تحل النهبى، ولا يحل كل ذي ناب من السباع، ولا تحل المجثمة.
Narrated by Nasai (4326), and this is his wording, and Ahmad (17741), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (22/216), all of them through the route of Baqiya bin Walid, from Buhayr bin Saad, from Khalid bin Madan, from Jubayr bin Nufayr, from Abu Thalaba, who related it. The wording in Ahmad and Tabarani is longer. Its chain of transmission is hasan, and the discussion of it is given in detail in the book on mosques.Darimi (2024) narrated it through the route of Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Uways, from Zuhri, from Abu Idris Khawlani, from Abu Thalaba, with the same wording, adding, "And he forbade snatching." Its chain of transmission is hasan.
