The Prophet ﷺ forbade eating an animal that has been tied up and used as a target, drinking the milk of an animal that feeds on filth, and drinking directly from the mouth of a waterskin.
إن النبي ﷺ نهى عن المجثمة، ولبن الجلالة، وعن الشرب من في السقاء.
Tirmidhi (1825), Nasai (4448), Ahmad (2162, 2671), and Ibn Hibban (5399) all narrated it through the route of Qatada, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who related it as mentioned. Abu Dawud narrated it through this same route in abbreviated form, concerning the prohibition of eating animals fed on filth, which was mentioned earlier. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Tirmidhi said, "A hasan sahih hadith."As for his statement, "He forbade al-mujathamah," this refers to any animal that is set up and shot at in order to be killed, though the term is used most often for birds, rabbits, and similar creatures that crouch on the ground, meaning they cling to it and press themselves against it, as stated in al-Nihaya.I say, if an animal dies in this manner, eating it is forbidden.
