Abu Hazim reported,

I asked Sahl bin Saad, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ever eat fine white bread?"Sahl replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never saw fine white bread from the time Allah sent him as a prophet until Allah took him."I asked, "Did you have sieves during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never saw a sieve from the time Allah sent him until He took him."I asked, "How then did you eat barley without sifting it?"He said, "We would grind it and blow on it. Whatever flew off flew off, and what remained we moistened with water and ate."

عن أبي حازم قال

سألت سهل بن سعد فقلت: هل أكل رسول الله ﷺ النقي؟ فقال سهل: ما رأى رسول الله ﷺ النقي من حين ابتعثه الله عز وجل حتى قبضه الله. قال: فقلت: هل كانت لكم في عهد رسول الله ﷺ مناخل؟ قال: ما رأى رسول الله ﷺ منخلا من حين ابتعثه الله حتى قبضه. قال: قلت: كيف كنتم تأكلون الشعير غير متحول؟ قال: كنا نطحنه وننفخه فيطير ما طار، وما بقي ثريناه فأكلناه.
