He entered upon Yahya bin Saeed and found a boy from the household of Yahya tying up a chicken and shooting at it. Ibn Umar walked over to the chicken and untied it, then brought it back along with the boy and said, "Restrain your boy from tying up this bird to be killed, for I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbid that any animal or anything else be tied up to be killed."
أنه دخل على يحيى بن سعيد، وغلام من بني يحيى رابط دجاجة يرميها، فمشى إليها ابن عمر حتى حلها، ثم أقبل بها وبالغلام معه، فقال: ازجروا غلامكم عن أن يصبر هذا الطير للقتل، فإني سمعت النبى ﷺ نهى أن تصبر بهيمة أو غيرها للقتل.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Sacrifices and Hunting (5514), from Ahmad bin Yaqub, who reported, "Ishaq bin Saeed bin Amr informed us, from his father, who heard him narrating from Ibn Umar," and then he mentioned it.His statement, "He entered upon Yahya bin Saeed," refers to Yahya bin Saeed bin al-As bin Saeed bin Umaya al-Qurashi al-Umawi, who was the brother of Amr bin Saeed al-Ashdaq. Yahya bin Saeed had governed Madinah, as had his brother Amr.
