I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting.He said, "When you shoot your arrow, mention the name of Allah. If you find the game already dead, eat from it, unless you find it fallen in water, for then you cannot tell whether the water killed it or your arrow."
سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن الصيد؟ قال: إذا رميت سهمك فاذكر اسم الله، فإن وجدته قد قتل فكل، إلا أن تجده قد وقع في ماء، فإنك لا تدري، الماء قتله أو سهمك؟
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Sacrifices and Hunting (5484), and Muslim in the Book of Hunting (1929:7), both of them through the route of Asim, from Shaybi, from Adi bin Hatim, and he related it. The wording given here is Muslim's.
